All About Crowfall! (blog 7)

I created an online fanzine for the book Crowfall by Vashti Hardy. There is an attached link to the website I created it on (you click the arrow to move the pages!) and the pages of the zine will also be attached as photos to this post. My process of appropriation to create my zine for Crowfall was very fun! Being able to add some images and some important key things from the book to my zine helped bring out a little bit of my creative side to piece everything together. The website was very easy to work with and was completely free. Jenkins mentioned in the section Why Teach Media Literacy: 3 Core Problems that, "children's experiences online are shaped by a range of social factors: class, age, gender, race, nationality, and point of access," (14) and I think no matter what experience my future students may have online, I can help them with this website. Forms of Multimodal Composition (blog 4)

I love zines. Taking an English class last semester that strictly discussed and made zines led me to enjoy them very much. Prior to the class, I had never heard of what a zine was, so when it came to making our first one, I was so confused. Looking back now, I am not exactly sure why I was so confused since they are fairly simple to make, but I felt as if the zine needed to have a specific type of writing on them and needed to be extravagant. The great thing about zines, though, is that they are all so different! You have so much freedom with zine creation which makes it so enjoyable for the creator . This class was the only experience I have had thus far with multimodal composition (zines specif ically ) so I hope to be able to incorporate a zine lesson in my future classroom in order to help my students see different ways of writing. Social Justice in YAL (blog 2)

Social justice books are very relatable for some of their readers and should be something that more people welcome into their personal libraries. Reading about a topic that may hit close to home is something that could be a very comforting thing for some people, while for others it may be a bit triggering. When it comes to English, there are a lot of different opportunities for what direction you want to focus on in regard to books and their topics. For my Inquiry Blog Topic, I plan on exploring the topic of Social justice in young adult literature books . My understanding of this topic is mostly just basic information; the main goal is to put other individuals' lives into perspective. Creating this perspective allows the reader to create a level of empathy, and more of an understanding toward the main character(s).
